The DI Foundation Impact
DIers are a curious bunch and passionate about making a difference personally and in our communities. We run marathons, create amazing art, perform on stage and jump out of planes. We’re multinational, multicultural, multi-talented individuals, each with a unique ideas. We do extraordinary work. We are more than 265 people in 7 locations across the United States. We came to DI to give, learn, create, build, design, and leave our mark in the communities where we live… and on the world.
Over the past 5 years, the DI and the DI Foundation has given over $500,000 to worthwhile charitable organizations. Our workforce is a diverse, talent-rich pool of individuals with various strengths, skills and connections. To use those skills for the good of the community, we encourage associates to partner with organizations that need the targeted expertise they can provide from within their field. Whether it’s through board membership, committee involvement or educational programs that reach a broader audience, we are stronger when we serve together.
For more than two decades, DI has withstood shifting economic climates to thrive and expand into new regions. We are honored to be able to give back to the communities that have supported us over the years. DI’s giving policy includes fundraising, sponsorships and donations that align with our philanthropy pillars: Arts, Health Care, Education, and Social Services.
Building the Workforce of Tomorrow
DI collaborates with communities to transform STEM and STEAM education into a driver for innovation, manufacturing and economic prosperity. We aim to build an inclusive and diverse workforce of tomorrow by empowering teachers, motivating students, and developing careers.
DI STEM Ambassadors
We believe the experience and expertise of our people serve as our strongest tool in contributing to a robust STEM workforce pipeline.
In 2020, we will formally launch the DI STEM Ambassadors, a group of trained employees who are getting out into the DI Communities to inspire students and support teachers.
School day activities may include career talks, guest lecturing, mentoring, and DI site tours. After-school activities include Robotics teams, participating in skilled trade/career nights, coaching or judging competitions, or elevating the importance of STEM in our communities through thought leadership, led by our Ambassadors.
ENGAGING FOR IMPACT
We recognize that it is through the time and talent of our employees that catalyzes true national impact. The DI Foundation is the company’s volunteer platform – the conduit to engaging employees to help create sustainable communities while also supporting and furthering business success.
The passion and expertise of our people are the heart and soul of our work. In support of our goal to positively impact the lives of millions of people across the globe by 2025, DI people are committing their time and talents through traditional and skilled employee volunteerism.
DI encourages purposeful volunteerism. We know employees thrive when they see that their work is central to the company and the community – work that impacts both the bottom line and the greater good. The DI Foundation offers two employee engagement routes:
Traditional – Employees dedicate their time to lend a helping hand with a variety of projects ranging from Habitat builds… to painting a house… to delivering food to people in need… to cleaning a park… to volunteering at a community event.
Skills-Based – Employees apply specific expertise, talent, professional skills and knowledge to help improve the lives of people around the world. Expertise in areas of business, engineering, accounting, fabrication, supply chain, information technology and a host of other skills and competencies help those in need.
Volunteering will change you and your story…for the better.
